Night Photo Help

10 seconds @ F/4. Any ideas on what I can do with the color?

Thanks in advance.

No clue what to do, but what is that UFO in the sky over the third unit?

NicTrain35 09-05-2012 10:48 PM

Not too sure what that was. Possibly a plane, but I don't recall seeing anything.

 You'd better send that picture to George Noory. ;)

The first one has a yellow cast, and the second one has a pink cast.

I think the first one is closer to success. Just get rid of that yellow cast.

If you shot them in RAW format, you could adjust the white balance.

However, the nose is in a big shadow and the number boards are blurry.

Was this train moving?

Thanks, guys.

I'll try to open it up and adjust the yellow cast on the first one. The train wasn't moving, but the wind was blowing pretty good. A storm came in about five minutes later.

If the train is stationary you can crank the f-stop up to 11 and let the shutter stay open as long as you need.

That will solve your number board problem and perhaps put some light on the nose.

I suggest you get a really nice metal tripod with a hook on the bottom that you can hang a gallon jug of water from.

That will keep it in place in the wind.

Or, you can use an old heavy relic from the 60's like I used for this one.

That is a 248 sec exposure in a rather stiff wind.
