Railpictures personal milestone
While I have sold many aircraft photos over the years from exposure on airliners.net and jetphotos, recently I sold my first train photo thanks to railpictures. It was purchased by an ad agency who was making a trade show booth for a customer.

Here is the original photo:

And here is the finished product.

Kinda neat to see how they used your photo. Did you shoot that digitally, or was it a slide?

The original shot was done on my Nikon D70. They did that from a high res .jpg file that I e-mailed to them. I had no idea that they could get it that big.

Rich I liked the picture when I first saw it on RP, but wonder if UP will want a cut of the earning you know how possesive they are over their likeness...lol...............Ken

Congratulations! How much would someone make off of a photo for that kind of use?

You can see those KONI shock absorbers on the trucks of those SD70Ms in your photo!

Well I am not one to kiss and tell, but I will say that the ad agency did pay a very fair and professional amount of money to use that shot. They definitely made it worth my while.

As for the "UP Image" being used in the KONI ad, I sure hope they checked with the lawyers first. The ad agency wanted a UP shot because UP was a customer of theirs. At first I thought about mentioning something to the ad agency but then I just decided to take the money and run :-)
