A BART train? Seriously, what are you asking?

stlgevo51 01-04-2011 01:07 AM

Is that even possible? How did he not loose site of the train in the dark? This isn't one of those photoshop pans is it?

Ween 01-04-2011 01:12 AM

We're looking at a stunning image...

bigbassloyd 01-04-2011 01:20 AM

Several of his pans have left me mystified on how he pulled it off.. I loved it.

Not hard really. Just like any pan, but this one is at night in a well lit city.

I second that!

barnstormer 01-04-2011 01:53 AM

A very nicely done photo.

Freericks 01-04-2011 01:55 AM

That was one of those... "why do I even bother, I'll never be that good" pictures.

troy12n 01-04-2011 01:59 AM

I would like to see what this area looks like in the day just to try and get perspective. I have no idea how one would accomplish that.

Freericks 01-04-2011 02:05 AM

I belive that it's mostly street lights, traffic lights, and house lights. The more colorful lights are likely store fronts, but I have to be honest, I am guessing.

I would bet you could use the Sat function on Google Maps right now to get a look.

I could be mistaken, but I think a fluid pan head on a tripod was used here. I know Mike recently bought one, and this is the sort of result that equipment like that would produce.

Superb photo.

Ween 01-04-2011 02:30 AM

I think he shoulda Photoshop'd an NS Dash 9 in the shot somehwere. And maybe some fake snow...

troy12n 01-04-2011 02:47 AM

The more I look at it, I think of the movie Blade Runner

Chase55671 01-04-2011 05:45 AM

Awesome photo! That's the work by a very talented individual.

I think I see someone flipping him off in the lead car.

coborn35 01-04-2011 05:16 PM

Great shot.

lock4244 01-04-2011 06:44 PM

It's a nice shot, no doubt, but it doesn't belong on RP, IMO... too little train, too much not train.

Mgoldman 01-04-2011 06:59 PM

Out of the camera and onto RP - it belongs. Superb execution.

There's still people who think the Beatles were over rated too.

8-)

John Craft 01-04-2011 08:46 PM

Did anybody else hear that?

I could have sworn I heard Mike Johannessen call Mitch Goldman a punk.

;-)

Outstanding.

Mgoldman 01-04-2011 09:11 PM

Of course you know...
