Suggestions on the cropping

Any idea what I could do to improve the cropping? I didn't want to exclude the dog from the frame and I certainly didn't want to exclude Mitch Goldman, as they serve as the two most primary subjects.

All joking aside, any suggestions on the cropping? I don't think I've submitted this image, and won't for some time, but wanted your opinions on the cropping, as I'll edit it and stash it away for later.. Something about the current cropping does not work for me. I wish I would've included more of the frozen hillside to the right and feel the foreground is too dull to warrant the current crop.

Thanks in Advance!
Chase

I looked at the photo before I read your post, but your assessment of the foreground is exactly what I was going to type. 1/3 or more of the image is dull and dirty snow/tracks instead of lovely snow-coated trees. If that's all you got, let this one go and don't sweat it, there's another winter coming up soon :)
