I thought the lighting made this shot,wrong I guess, oh well FLICKR loves it, LOL.

You need to wait until it is completely dark and then hit it with a lot of flash. Then , You can get rid of all the nasty shadows that show up on a cloudy day, not sure how that happens. You don't want those alternating light and shadows and the tension of a late in the day image with a sliver of light hitting the nose.

Seriously, very attractive photo.

Thanks Rob for guiding me onto the straight and narrow. The clouds literally opened up seconds before this shot and closed again just as quickly, I have 5 or 6 frames each side of this one and no light on the loco at all.

It works for me. That kind of light is known in landscape photography circles as "break though" light. It's great when you can catch it.

That sign centered in front of the power is not a plus...

Probably, but i see it as a sign of how thin that sliver of light really is.
