Post an "average" photo
More fun with the database!

Post an "average" photo of yours from your collection. By average I mean check out what your personal average views per photo is from the members section, then find a photo in your collection that has the same number.

For example, my average views per photo (AVPP) is 174.92 at this posting. (That's kinda low! :( ) The following image has 178 views at posting, and I guess it is an average representation of my work here.

If you don't have any images that are exactly the same number as your AVPP, then round up to the next number in your collection. If you have more than one image, then select your favorite.

Here it is, in all it's mediocrity-

NicTrain35 09-02-2005 10:57 PM

Great idea. My average views per photo is 240.67. Here's one of my photos in the database with 240, the only picture I have with that many. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=111019 Take care. :)

jweber33 09-02-2005 10:57 PM

My average is 208.7 views per photo, although I have many below that and a few above that. I have two at 224 views (make them 225!) and one at 196.

Here it is:

NicTrain35 09-02-2005 10:57 PM

It was at 240 when I posted it here.

jweber33 09-02-2005 10:59 PM

I also forgot...
I have a more mediocre one at 193... here it is:

ME 488 09-02-2005 11:11 PM

My average is 270.95 per photo.
This one is my closest to that, with 264.

cmherndon 09-03-2005 12:08 AM

At an average of 232.67 (Lets round up to 233) here's one that's right on that number (at posting time). It's certainly nothing to write home about, but hey, it's an EMD. ;)

NicTrain35 09-03-2005 12:40 AM

Nice shots, guys. Caleb, How do you make the image just appear on the screen without having to click the Railpictures link? I feel left out here....me being the only one posting a link: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=111019

cmherndon 09-03-2005 01:44 AM

[photoid=XXXXX] where XXXXX = ID Number

In your case, Nick...

NicTrain35 09-03-2005 01:45 AM

Thanks for your help, Caleb.

NicTrain35 09-03-2005 01:53 AM

Here are some more of my photos that are real close to my average views per photo. Thanks a lot to Chuck and Caleb for helping me with the photo id trick making the picture come up on the screen without posting the link. :)

ssw9662 09-03-2005 02:41 AM

My average amount of views is 263.

Here's the closest to average shot:

Alrighty..Im bored, so ill play...yall keep coming up with these threads that make one think :)

Out of 1,817 pics I have on RP, we come up with a average view rate of 292.66, centering on.....

Thats 292 views (at least when this is posted), which is just about average it seems. As it stands now, my highest rated shots has 19,574 views and the lowest has 81 views.

CDTX_2051 09-03-2005 04:16 AM

My average view number is roughly 214. Here's my closest to the average:

mtrails 09-03-2005 04:46 AM

At an average of 273.31, my nearest is 277...
A pretty cool photo, for falling into the "average" category!

Ween 09-03-2005 05:43 AM

My average view per photo is 192.30 (way low compared to most, but I blame living in IL, OK, and ND...flat w/ no exciting scenery! I'm gonna have to do an average views/photo for my Colorado shots just for grins someday).

The shot that had 192 views is sort of an irony, since this location, this engine, and everything else in this shot is probably destroyed:

Colorado is averaging 257.875 for me. Goes to show you that neat stuff in the background goes a long way toward your total views!

LAHDPOP 09-03-2005 06:09 AM

Average is 174 views for my whopping 8 accepted photos. Man, I need to get busy. This one had right at 174...

Edit: Hey, I win so far, with the lowest average views. I should get a "Get One Un-Rejected Free" certificate. 8)

cblaz 09-03-2005 06:12 AM

My average is 291.66. Rounding up, here's my shot with 292 views, a NS switcher shuffling cars at DeButts Yard in Chattanooga, TN.

willie6622 09-03-2005 01:34 PM

My average is 325.15, so here is the closest thing I have to that:

busyEMT 09-03-2005 05:15 PM

My average is 235 (but that is skewed due to a photo w/ 4,000 + views)

Ken Carr 09-03-2005 08:05 PM

Well my average is 385.72., round it up to 386, my choice is the same vehicle by two different agencies either UP at 382 or FRA at 392 so here is UP inspection vehicle at 382

4kV 09-04-2005 01:48 AM

My average as of now is a little over 228. Here is a pic with 229 views. Why is it average? Well, it's a simple side on view of a train in poor lighting. The lighting itself would probably result in rejection today, and for that matter, I would not even upload it today. I guess my standards have evolved just as the website's have. The landscape is just simply breathtaking, isn't it? Basically, it does not come out and grab you at all, aside from perhaps the tossed salad mix of power. If not for that, it would probably be well below average, likely down near the bottom.

I am glad to see someone make that statement. Our standards have increased a great deal since RP first came online. I can look back through my early stuff and find material that I wouldnt even dream of posting today. I know of several folks (including myself) that have went back and weeded out a lot of "sub-par" shots to rid the site of stuff that doesn't meet the higher standards, and in the process they have presented a better idea of thier best work. I have Three or Four racks of CD's sitting here on the puter desk that contain a lot of shots that wont ever see RP...They are worth saving, but not my best work. If more folks could understand this and only upload the cream of thier crop, we would have a LOT less of these bitch sessions (not that this thread is..you all know what I mean) on the forums!

SD70MAC 09-04-2005 02:57 AM

Ok I guess I'll bite. I have an average of 262.32 views per photo. I found this one at 261.

Andrew Blaszczyk (2) 09-04-2005 03:52 AM

Average views per photo is 283.51
