Your Best Photo(s)
it has been a while from last time we did this, and besides, there are new forum members now

i think it's a good way to learn from other forumites (is that a word?)

anyways, not much to learn from me, but my favourite 2:
i like the way the light blue appears like a "halo" over the engine
nothing special, but i like the composition

Guilford350 10-06-2003 12:22 PM

I think my best are these:

The sun setting gives ample light and shows alot of detail.
I like the composition in this one.
A good roster shot with the sun hitting the nose.

This would be even more interesting now since there are many more active members in the forums.

From the last Two weks or so, I was rather fond of this one, out of 5 or 6 rolls of film..

petertenthije 10-06-2003 10:14 PM

I am not nearly as good as most of you, but I kind a like these:

And maybe an odd one, but I just like how this one turned out. With the colours and reflections in the windows.

I like the Syntus one! It gives an ordinary commuter train a lot of character.

And the ICE 3...well, it's really dirty!

Shots like that make me want to buy a camera, Mr. Bell. That's excellent.

Well.. what can I say, at 300 km/h flies find it difficult to evade you. That's why those trains over at your place always look so crisp!

iCe 10-07-2003 08:32 PM

The sad thing is, there are still lots of dirty and rusting trains here! :x

mojo628 10-09-2003 03:42 AM

My new best/favorite photo.

Sometimes you just get lucky. :D

Guilford350 10-09-2003 12:21 PM

The sunlight in that photo mojo is simply amazing! 8)

willie6622 10-09-2003 04:12 PM

My personal favorites
I could only narrow it down to these. I really don't know which one of the four I like the most. PS: I really love this site & hope more people start usuing the forums.

Awesome Photos!

willie6622 10-10-2003 12:57 AM

ICE, I'm glad you liked them.

bitburger 11-12-2003 12:14 AM

Well I don't have that many pictures here in the database but if i should choose from those i would take this one:

This has one special reason. It still has the old InterRegio coaches and in addition to that this train brought me to a soccer match which my favourite team won... :D

iCe 11-12-2003 12:17 AM

Nice photo.

Let me guess, you like Kalsruhe?

October 03, and they are still in the old colours?

bitburger 11-12-2003 12:22 AM

Yep, i think for some IRE they've just let them like that or they haven't got the new colours yet. Everything is possible...
And no, my fave team is not Karlsruhe... it's Stuttgart, they've played against Panathinaikos FC from Greece that day and they won 2-0 :D
Pretty dangerous to like Stuttgart when you live in Karlsruhe  but i don't care...

When I lived in Tuebingen (near Stuttgart) they were my favourite team, too! :D 8)

A B&W attempt.

Trying out the night photography.

Re: best photo
I don't think I've taken my best photo yet. :D That is really what keeps me going.
This is my favorite one to date.: http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=36233

S.C. Vermillion 11-12-2003 04:40 AM

Here are my personal favorites!!

I lived in Springfield all 26 years of my life and never new the main went thru a cut in the limestone. Made for a good picture I think!

Another favorite of mine a Downtown shot!

I got some good pics this week and have a few other ideas that I plan to get on the same role I am just waiting on the rain to go away.

VRE Man 11-12-2003 08:44 AM

MY Favorites/Best Shots:

Give that classic Old time railroad feel.

What a sunny day and 5 megapixels can bring you:)

Probably one of my recent bests

I love to photograph VRE

Over the river and through the woods:)

And My absoulute best:

busyEMT 11-12-2003 05:12 PM

My favorites would be:
#3 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=38055 (my first snow shot)

#2 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=38940

#1 http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=38574 trying to stay ahead of an eastbound coal train, I heard this one coming from the other side of the bridge.

By the way, ICE, 35140 is excellent!

railfanzone 11-12-2003 06:24 PM

Holy crap, that's a lot of sweet shots! Here's a few of my favs...of course they change daily... :)

Thanks! I really like it, too! :D

Out of yours, I like 37216 the best. If I remember correctly, it was your first digital shot (or one of them). Remember at the beginning how you were struggling with film? I think I even attempted to PS one of them. Look how much you've improved! Great shots! :)

Clyde Hancock 11-14-2003 06:34 PM

While it's not the best, it's in a favorite location:

chess_c 11-15-2003 01:06 AM

The thing that sucks for me is that I don't have a scanner that will scan above 300 dpi...or a digital camera. (If anybody has any ideas on another alternative, please let me know! :D ) Out of the few pics I have online, (the ones that I deemed turned out decent), this is probably my favorite...

photo id: 37256

for quality...I like id: 37240

still, most definitely NOT my best shots! :x

iCe 11-15-2003 04:55 AM

I like 37257! :)

S.C. Vermillion 11-15-2003 05:04 AM

Chess C

I guess you use film like me. What I found to do is that when you take the film to get them developed ask them if they can put them on CD for you. The place I go has a 35mm film scanner and it scans at like 4000+dpi. My photo's that I have had done this way are great. Very good quality photo's on CD for only $6 to $10. Meijer does it for $6 at 4000DPI , click camera $9 but they use a 5000+DPI scanner. Just ask the photo shop what kind of film scanner they have and what the resolution is.

Here are some that were scanned at Meijer and Click Camera!

chess_c 11-18-2003 06:20 AM

Thanks a bundle...I will have to try that.

Unfortunately, living in the "sticks." no Meijer stores 'til I get to Ohio! (Believe me, I was born in Columbus!) :)

We do have a local photo place here, I just don't know if they can do it!

Hopefully I'll get some more like this next time I'm out in Ca.

iCe 11-25-2003 09:37 PM

Greg, do you visit here once a month? lol

NIce photo, btw :)

yardmaster 12-06-2003 10:24 PM

All my pictures are so good, I can't pick one. Every single one should be on a magazine cover! They are too good to share with the "average" Joe., so you won't see them on here.

slackaction 12-06-2003 11:38 PM

Well Mr yardmaster, if your photography skills are equal to your forum postting skills, I am very sure that we will not be missing anything!!
