Post your favorite shot so far this year!
Being that we are already on the downhill side of 2008 I thought it would be interesting to see people's favorite shot they've taken so far this year. I'm limiting it to one shot so pick wisely! ;)

After much deliberation, I pick...
[photoid=234411] I was very excited to finally get a sunrise shot like this one. |

My favorite of '08 will probably come from my Chicago trip coming up in a few weeks, but for now here's this year's favorite:

Really? An H2 Dash 9? |
[photoid=241957]
Still eligible for PCA nominations ;) |

It's a scene I'd be willing to take up modeling for! |
Good shots have been few and far between this year, but at least that makes my choice easy! :)

That was the hardest decision I've had to make it a while! It was a close race between my top three most popular of '08. |

I guess I will say this one, mainly because it is doubtful I will have a chance to do anything like this for a long time, especially while being on NS's tracks. I'm also amazed it came out, as this engine did not exactly give a smooth ride, but I shoved the camera against the window and used my foot to try to keep it from moving..

I'm pretty partial to my Colebrook, BC storm light shot, but I haven't edited it to the point I could submit it yet! |
Ohh, I'll break down and have to say my favorite from 2008 soooo far is...

I guess this one but it was a tough choice. There are things I don't like about this photo also. |
Some awesome shots posted so far.

I just added to the remarks section but I forgot to add before that you can see the East bound DPU in the photo. |

Wow, that is a tough one.
It's been a rather good year and I must thank a bunch of my peers on RP for their insight, creativity and conseqently for raising the bar that wasn't even there before. Hmmm... The contestants are W&W, LS&I (pace), PM (pan), MILW (B&W's or possibly sunset) and Amtrak (night). Considering I'm my own worst critic, this is an interesting turn of events. I'll have to say, under the gun, [photoid=221040] the photo that changes character depending on the amount of ambient light while viewed making it unique out of the bunch. /Mitch Click Here to see the year in review on RP. |
Looking through my shots for this year brought a little surprise to me, I've only had 13 accepted so far this year! Of those, 9 are Caltrain photos. Oy I really have to get off the Peninsula a little bit before summer is over. My favorite so far this year is also my latest, I wish now that I had parked my motorcycle on the other side of the street and made it more a part of the scene, it could have been more of a railfan's ride type of shot then. I have a "shots to get" list that is getting longer and longer but the smokey California skies and soaring fuel costs haven't helped any.

*edit, changed my mind! :) Loyd L. |
Oooh decisions, decisions.........
Despite getting some great pictures in Switzerland, Spain and of my local railway, I think my choice would have to be this [photoid=241643] I might be tempted to follow Loyd's lead if my mood changes in a couple of days though, a very hard choice to make. |

I edited the shot and when I was done I turned off my desk lamp and the image took on another character, at least in my HO. The darker the room, the more the head light seemed to glow showing the way. Your mileage may vary. /Mitch |

Great photo Arne. You might as well take Caltrain down to SJC, and Amtrak up to where-ever... "Going Green" as Amtrak says. HAH! |
