It's contagious: Lost my eye for Composition
Reason(s) for Rejection:
- Composition (Balance): The subject is awkwardly positioned in the frame. RailPictures.Net prefers that images are composed in keeping with the 'Rule of Thirds' meaning that, in most circumstances, the focal point of the image should not be directly in the center of the frame, or too close to any of the edges. http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...74&key=4924711 What is the issue here? Too much empty space on the left, or the CSX local in the background (which, by the way, is not the focal point of the image) is too close to the right edge of the frame? Suggestions, please. I have some adjacent frames, of varying composition, to work with as well. Thanks. /Ted |
Is this a 3:5 crop? If so I'd go with a 6:4 crop. Either way, I'd add more to right and top.

Original was a 16:9 crop. This is an adjacent frame, with a 6:4 crop. I thought it might be best to eliminate the CSX local in the background, since it's blocked by a sapling. Does this work any better?

Crop it to 3:2 with the train a little below center and you should be fine. |
I think the biggest issue is just the train being vertically centered for no obvious reason.

Thanks to all for the advice.
/Ted [photoid=754986] PS: Jim: I should've stated that the original (rejected) edit was at 16:9; the original image, is, of course, 3:2. |
