This Weeks Failures Are ...

The idea was "small train, big landscape" -

http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...98&key=8565508

a variation of that idea -

and one last one -

I'd welcome any ideas on these rejects - do any of them stand a chance ?

Thanks in advance.

First one - to my tastes, too blah a landscape for the shot to work.

Second one - I like it. I can see taking some off the bottom and adding some on top if you have it.

Third one, I don't think the subject warrants the extensive background. It's a roster shot. Take some off left and bottom.

Perhaps a compromise between #1 and #2 would work?

Both of these should make it on with a couple of (hopefully) easy fixes.

For the first shot, make it a vertical. Keep the sky and cut off as much on the right until it fits the proper dimensions. That will also get rid of the dust spot in the sky at the upper right corner.

For the third shot, I assume the locomotive is coming at you? If so, do you have a frame a few seconds previous where the rear of the unit is closer to the signal, but not blocking it? I would use that if you have it to keep the signal in the shot and to lose the awkwardly cut off house. If you don't have an earlier frame, I'm afraid you're going to have to crop out the signal.

Hope this helps.
