What guns have you bought recently?

I know some of you on here shoot, so what have you bought recently?

I just picked up a nice, used but mint Beretta 92FS with the case and 2 mags on Friday for $400 OTD.

A couple weeks ago, I went on a shotgun bender and picked up 2 Winchester model 12's in 12 gauge from the 1920's and a 70's Remington 870 12 gauge all for very nice prices.

Looks like AR and AK prices are coming back down to reality after the January and February "evil gun" buying panic. When they bottom out I might buy a few more AR's and AK's.

Anyone else?

And is everyone else out there having a hard time buying ammo at a decent price?

Also, serious replies only, if you are anti-gun, you need not reply here.

I know some of you live in commie states like NY, CONN, MASS, CAL, so you have to jump through hoops to exert your 2nd amendment rights.

So the First Amendment does not hold the same value to you as the Second?

jac_murphy 05-05-2013 05:42 PM

Why, a pair of these, of course!

There's a difference between the right to do it, and me politely asking someone to not troll my thread.

True that.

"Commie" is polite for?

I am finding ammo in reality price ranges. You just have to be lucky and be there when the shelves are full. A change of clothes and a few different hats help to get around the 3 box limit, lol.

WalMart still has ammo at pre-hysteria prices. You have to be there at like 6am to get it (around here anyway), but it's there.

Shot with a 9mm Glock the other week as training for my job. Should get my armed card within the next few weeks.

Troy, it's been awhile since I've bought any guns, as you'll find out from what I'm about to say below.

The last time I stopped by Grand Strand Western, I met a man from out of town, who told me that double barrelled shotguns are not longer manufactured, which was a Big Surprise to me.

Sine you are undoubtedly more up to date can you confirm that and give me more details?

GSW in Colonial Mall, at Briarcliffe, South Carolina, is operating today, one of their 3 weeky open to the public days, the others being Monday and Saturday.

Am now debatinig with myself was to whether to go there today. I think their Wednesday hours are less than Mon & Sat.

Glock 17 or 19?

If you want to build an AR, Palmetto State Armory, a few hours away from you, has complete lowers for $199 right now.

LOL! Charles, I live in one of the states that Troy mentions. We affectionately call it The People's Republic of Massachusetts! Don't even get me started about the politics around here. The last four Speakers of the Massachusetts House have been indicted. Change your name to Kennedy and you're a shoe-in to win any election for any office. Federal law may state that the term of office for a US Senator is 6 years, but here in the PROM, for a Democrat, the term of office is LIFE.

Everything is illegal here. The Police Chief in your town gets to decide if you get to own any kind of weapons at all....including a little can of pepper spray. Funny, in the neighboring State of Maine, it is almost illegal to not own a gun....LOL!

The PROM is a great example of what you get when you no longer have a two-party system.

Absolutely false...

Several manufacturers still make them:
Mossberg:
http://www.mossberg.com/products/shotguns/break-action

Winchester: (over-under only)
http://www.winchesterguns.com/produc...20C&mid=513046

Savage / Stevens: (over-under only)

Stoeger:

http://www.stoegerindustries.com/fir...e-triggers.php

Beretta:

CZ:

Franchi: (over-under only)
http://www.franchiusa.com/shotguns/

If you want one, cruise the pawn shops or gun stores for used shotguns, deals can be had. Let me re-phrase that, deals WILL be had. Especially in a double barrel, they are not sexy now. You can find an older Stevens side by side in really good shape for under $200 and have a solid functional side by side that will last another hundred years. No need to buy new. If you want to spend thousands, a good LC Smith would be outstanding.

If you want a pump, used Remington 870's is what you want, preferred pre-1990 because they started to use some plastic parts about that time.

EMTRailfan 06-14-2013 09:28 PM

No new arms since last fall, but I scored 3-100rd Federal value packs of 9mm this morning at above stated box store. Would rather support the little guy, but for reality prices vs. raping prices, my money is better in my pocket.

The private store here where I live has his prices raised to what I would consider "supply and demand" prices considering all that he has is "outdoors-type" sporting goods, and not everything else like diapers, medicine, and an oil change to draw ppl into his store. I still support him over Big Blue if he has what I want/need. Now if we could just get ding-dongs to stop buying ammo on sites like GunBroker for 400% mark up, prices would come back down even more.

Troy12n-

That was a reply Well Worth Waiting For!

Thanks for correcting that other guy who thought that double barrelled shotguns were no longer manufactured.

I only have one shotgun, a double-barrelled, side by side Savage bsd-e? I'll check to make sure.

One barrell is choked.

I have had a problem with the ejector sears, (or is it seers), having found out after buying the shotgun, that one barrell had NO ejector sear!

I wrote to Savage, and got another ejector sear, but it didn't work right. Discussed the problem with a local gunsmmith, who told me to file it to make it fit.

Yes, it's ridiculous for what ammo is going for online now, especially .22, WalMart can get ammo a couple times a week if needed, but seems people get there in the middle of the night.

That's horrible. I feel sorry for people like you. Here in FL, it's actually in the state constitution that they cannot create any sort of gun registry, we are SHALL-Issue on Concealed Weapons Permits, which means if you meet the requirements (not a felon, of sound mind, and a couple other thing) and fill out the paperwork correctly, they HAVE to issue you one, once you have it, you can buy any non-class 3 (NFA) firearm without a wait. We can sell face to face via private sale (to FL Residents, non-Felon) without involving an FFL, no getting permission from the (politically appointed) chief of police to own or buy, no hoops to jump through (except getting ammo right now due to demand).
