Colour Management - Browsers

Are you feed up with not seeing correctly managed colour on your web browser?

Internet Explorer cannot show correctly managed colour, so after all the work you put in getting your railway picture to look just right in Photoshop, you upload it to Railpics and then view it on Internet Explorer, the colour is totally different than you anticipated.

Help is at hand, SAFARI

http://www.apple.com/safari/download/

This browser is colour savvy and will show your photos as you expect, that is provided you embed an ICC profile.

Good explanation here:

Enjoy :-D

If you process your shots in sRGB, then you shouldn't see a difference using IE...

Browser Colour Management

Hi Ween,

You are in theory correct of course.

Assuming IE displays sRGB correctly/accurately??

I only found out by accident that Safari seems to display colour more accurately. By accident because I had downloaded Safari to try out.

I submit all my snaps to Railpics as sRGB, even though I work in Adobe RGB for all other outputs.

Try it yourself, I'd be interested in your comments.

I guess you have a calibrated monitor?

Regards

Alan

Nah, nothing special for calibration. I just have not noticed a difference in color when I process a shot and then look at it in IE. I process in sRGB for the web as well...

Looks like the new Firefox 3, which I have not installed yet, does color management.

I've been waiting to install it until I confirm that certain add-ins have been upgraded (like the EXIF viewer and the pop-up blocker). I haven't bothered to check; don't really need to upgrade, but maybe I will do so now for color management.

I'm sure it's because I haven't put enough effort into it, but FF 3 is killing me. It keeps forgetting my settings, adblock doesn't work, and I can't find a single actual improvement. (Doesn't like all colour profiles either)
I keep everything sRGB just to keep things simple.
