A Startling Look At Commuting With 1.2 Billion People
[If this is the wrong place to post, please move; it made the most sense in my head...]

Some great photos in here; then again, look who the photographer is.

Some nice photos in there, appears that most of them are about 20 years old too, since steam has been gone since about 95, meter gauge almost gone, even some of the diesel models gone, and everythings still in the old maroon paint scheme in those photos. Still just as crowded though....

That place is crazy. I would absolutely love to go there just to see how different it is. Plus, I want to hang on the outside of a speeding commuter train at least once just to say that I've done it.

If you want even more insight as to what Indian Railways from the same era are like, look for National Geographic's documentary "The Great Indian Railways". It shows daily commuting in Mumbai, the importance the railways had on small villages, the Darjeeling Hill Railway before diesels, and the end of steam. I highly recommend it.
