Strikes me that reducing the exposure slightly (darkening) might produce a better result. Toning down the highlights might help, also. Re "what the camera sees", the color metering is influenced by...

Re the picnic table, if it's possible to move it out of the way, I'd do that. But don't lose the Christmas tree in the window on account of the table, if it can't be moved! Might consider cropping...

Aligning with the vertical/plumb line of a building is generally a good way to level a photo...but don't try it in Pisa, Italy, or a dilapidated shed that's falling down!
