I think you're right on with your assessment. Tighten it up overall, especially on the left side. And then up the sharpness, personally I find I always need to sharpen more for RP than what looks...

I think this shot looks a lot more promising, but I'd still try and brighten it up a bit more before submitting.

Agreed, what went from a bit of looking at maps now becomes a significant investment in sleuthing to determine where a shot was taken. Meaning RP loses a lot of its usefulness in planning trips, etc....
