Merry Christmas guys!

In a couple weeks I'm heading to Southern California for the first time and I have several days set aside for rail photography. I'm planning to do the usual Tehachapi and...

Not bad! I can understand why it didn't get on, but that is a shot I would try again when the sun angles are more favorable. Is there a way you could show more of the town on the frame on the right...

I like it. It is a little soft, however (more like shallow depth of field). Nonetheless, if you photoshopped NKP 765 or a heritage unit into the shot, you'd probably get a Screener's Choice...

I'm not sure if this is an extremely well-crafted satire of one of DV's nonsensical "I own the West Slope" posts, or if he's just hacked your account in an attempt to spread his name on this forum....

Not to drag this one up, but here's some relevant info on the SD60s.

3810 was delivered in May and has been running on the NYSW for the past month.

3808 was delivered about a week ago,...

After having largely ignored the forums for the past year, I was hoping that the members of this site would have moved on and stopped paying attention to the ramblings of a certain photography...

What photo editor are you using? It looks like whatever you're using for resizing/rotating could be killing the image quality. If you can get it leveled without having to hurt the image quality too...

2011 was a pretty interesting year for me. My railfan-related activities hit a wall around August as a result of college and the resulting academic and social obligations (not to mention the lack of...

Looks like I'll get a day or two to explore northeastern PA, otherwise that's it for me this season. The rest of my fall will likely be spent studying, working, or just hanging out. It's amazing how...

Both shots are top-heavy, especially the first one. You need to crop off much of the top and add some more space on the bottom if at all possible.

I don't think the second shot has a chance for...

What do you think?

I've seen quite a few "bad track" shots so I thought I'd try my own on a local branch line. Unfortunately, this photo has a few defects (namely, poor focus and too much grain) so I don't plan to...

CSX Mountain Sub

With the CPLs all but gone around Magnolia, it looks like the Mountain Sub will be my next stop on the old B&O. I have very little knowledge of the operations around here, so I could use some help.

The angle isn't really the problem here. I think the bigger issue is the milky "half sun, half cloud" lighting that you have. Those conditions alone are generally enough to kill a shot, and an angle...
