Watermark Issues

Has anyone tried to apply a RP watermark and not have it appear on the image? It seems like every other image I try to submit never gets the watermark placed on it even when I select a strong...

Poor Lighting

Worth an appeal? The lighting wasn't 100% ideal but I don't think it really takes that much away from the image

I was wondering whether it's the use of the actual image itself that causes the gray area. What if he just included the RP link to the photo instead? Would that be the proper "copyright etiquette"?
