Alright, thanks for the help, guys. I can certainly see the bad contrast now, and now that I look more closely, everything really does just seem to melt in with eachother.

It's not that RailPictures doesn't accept roster shots, they're just very picky about them. I only have one on... it seems that conditions need to be nearly perfect to get one of those shots on.

In my opinion, the crossing bars are simply elements of a common grade crossing... I don't think that there is anything wrong with either of the crossing gates.
I would say get rid of the cut off...

If you prefer that angle, I'd have to say include more foreground and less sky. There is just too much boring, cloudless blue sky in the picture. You probably only want to include a decent amount...

People post their rejected shots and request help for a reason - It's so that they can get critique on their shot, and in the end improve it; and maybe even have a good chance of getting it in. ...
