Not sure where the $250 figure comes from, but as of earlier this year it was a $30 fee to register up to (a very large number) of images.

Probably some truth in that.

I think this is pretty good programming, a good topic and some thoughtful replies!

I'm sure pan shots were blasted at first for all that "blurred shit" in the...

I looked at the photo before I read your post, but your assessment of the foreground is exactly what I was going to type. 1/3 or more of the image is dull and dirty snow/tracks instead of lovely...

I'll play devil's advocate here, no you don't need anything for the wires to hang from, we all know wires don't dangle from the sky so our brain takes care of knowing there's something up there...

No way it gets on RP, but I agree, cool effect, it somehow works with the trespasser. I don't like the cropping though, I'd lose some off the top and even more off the left.

The signs take away from the image, they don't connect to anything else found in the scene (that I can see, anyway). They are pretty nice looking landscape shots though aside from the signs.

Great color! The rail is definitely soft (by RP standards) though, no doubt about it. Do some masked sharpening. The telephone pole and wire is a bit distracting, but for some reason I quite like...

Travis, I've been through your website, and the amount of awesome shots is really amazing. Still, maybe it's just me, but when I am in a gallery and I see "76 pages" at the top, I think "yeah right"...

boy, if that's a fake pan, then I am awfully impressed... he managed to fake a slight upward motion into the blur, nicely changed the blur from side-to-side to side-to-middle for the foreground, and...

He achieves a very nice effect in each instance, almost a model-like appearance in addition to the cool lighting. I'm sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I'm impressed. Interesting light,...

Good choice on the Tokina 11-16. The f/2.8 has been far, far more valuable to me than an extra 1mm. It's built real solid and works on full frame at 16mm!

Reluctant to bring this back to the top, but I recently read this article which was quite shocking to me. I was not aware that felony prosecutions are now being actively pursued in numerous states...

The Nikon 10.5 is a fisheye right? If that's what your going for that's cool, but it won't look like the images in this thread. The Sigma 10-20 and Tokina 11-16 are both rectilinear options that a...

With the high ISO (1600) he's just talking about a test shot to gauge proper exposure without having to do a bunch of 5-10 minute exposures getting "ready". Bump up to 1600 and maybe f/4 and pick a...

It won't get on here, but I like it a lot, well done. The only thing I personally would suggest would be to move the whole composition "up" in the frame just a bit, i.e. have less sky on the top and...

try a longer exposure (including more time before or after the train) with a smaller aperture, this will let the rest of the scene become lit and decrease the mega-streaks from the headlights

There's a tiny "CLNA" under the cab window, but I agree, it's a little strange not seeing any big road names. The rejects were for "foreground clutter" but I would be the high sun is the real reason,...

I guess I'll chime in here, I didn't like your nose-zoom-pan at all, but this one is pretty cool! The flat light might be the killer though.
