Scanner Reception and Antennas

I have a Uniden BC246T with an MFJ-1717 antenna on top of it. I am looking to improve my mobile reception range. Down here in Southeast Missouri with all the trees and such my reception definitely...

That's what I'm referring to. Before the Santa Fes are patched into BNSF they have the 3 panel windows, but after they are patched on the side and the nose they all have the 4 panels.

Every ex Santa Fe dash 9 that BNSF has patched into BNSF has the 4 panel windows, not the 3 panel ones that all Santa Fe dash 9s had/have.

Hopefully in another 5-10 years BNSF will find another reason to change their paint scheme and hopefully it will be better. It will be interesting to see what comes about in the next few years.
