You disagree that it's not high sun? Uhhh....take a look at the short shadows from the grab bars on the nose. Definitely not even close to being high sun. If this loco was rotated 20-30 degrees CW, this would be a textbook-lit roster shot.

The angle and length of the shadow have been distorted at 145mm (232mm on his crop sensor D5100). Thus, the angle of the shadow looks straighter down due to the compression of the focal length.
