Both submissions need closer cropping on the top and bottom, IMHO. That's particularly true when you have a completely featureless, blue sky. I would also crop off some of the foreground. Your editing software should be able to display the Rule-of-Thirds (RoT) grid. Place the nose of the lead unit as squarely in the center of one of those crosses, in this case, probably the lower right. I'm not a huge fan of the low-angle shooting position, mainly because it results in blurry ballast being the closest thing to the viewer, but that's just a personal preference. I think most people prefer to view a train from a human perspective, as opposed to a woodchuck's perspective, or bird's perspective.
