I personally don't have a problem with the f/4.5, it softens the background just fine and puts more emphasis on the nose. I sharpened with my usual settings (in photoshop, which you have, Unsharp Mask 80/0.6/0), see the attached.

But the image size, not only is it nice to have a larger image than 800x, I think the vertical hurts you as they will reject if it is less than a minimum of 600. As your normal practice, do 1000 or 1024 wide. Not only is that better for RP but your other viewers, friends who get attachments, etc, will appreciate the larger file.
