I have to agree, my "cloudy day" shots come out underexposed too. The camera needs a true spot meter in a very bad way.
For night shots, the camera meters extremely well. I am impressed with that. I sometimes have to underexpose just a bit so the number boards don't appear too bright, but it usually meters spot on.
For the less than sunlight pics I have started shooting around 1/2 stop over then fix the sky in photoshop elements.
