Haven't heard about an excursion out of the museum itself, at least not in the last 10 years or so since I have been in DC, although the first several years I was not well informed or connected (and I miss things now, of course). The museum runs a train over a short segment of track, perhaps a mile, for people who come to the museum to get a short ride. That track connects to CSX (near Mt. Claire (A) yard) but they don't even go that far, much less go out on the main.

Every so often the local NRHS chapter in DC puts their PV, the "Dover Harbor" I think, on the end of a passenger train. And the American Orient Express used to come through the area, at least down here in DC, they are out of business now.
