Pat, remember that the successful RP shot will not necessarily place the train as the central focal point in the shot, but be a well-composed image that shows the train in context with the scene. The shots you posted effectively chop off the Frenchs Hollow bridges at the waterline of Normans Kill and, as Austin noted, have waaaay too much sky. The photo of Roman's that was referenced is better, though my preference would have been to aim even lower an attempt to get some reflection showing in the pool below the road bridge.

A few comments on your captions: Those bridges are properly classified as viaducts, not trestles; they span "Frenchs Hollow" (note the spelling of the road); and the location is Guilderland Center, not Altamont. (I grew up in Albany and it always annoys me when people get these details wrong.)
