Default Distracting Shadows???

Well I realize the lead unit is in a shadow.....BUT that is the whole purpose of this photo. A sort of daylight silhoette. Anyways, here is one of my rejects...Is it really distrating to you??

I really don't feel strongly about this shot. It does have an element of impending arrival, but the lead locomotive actually distracts from the scenery. The quality of the photo seems fine.

Hmm. I wouldn't call it distracting. Like you said, the shadow is the point. I'm leaning toward calling it intriguing, and interesting, without being actually captivating. Does that make sense? I do like it.

BTW, I notice you're Air Force. What and where?

Default Air Force

Davis Monthan AFB, AZ- Aircraft Electrician....and environemental systems too. 8 1/2 years. This is my fifth base, and just made TSgt. As for the shot...its just supposed to be one of those "different" views. I have the shot just moments later when the loco was lit-up, but I think that the shadow makes for a more interesting shot. Ray,
Your fifth base in 8.5 years??? Jeez, man. I guess you stay packed, huh?

I'm an Airfield Manager, MSgt, Active Duty Air National Guard, in Indiana. It's only my third base in over 15 years! Started at Ellsworth, South Dakota (yes, I'm old enough to have been in SAC), then Andersen, Guam, then onto the Air Guard in Indiana, where I'll probably stay (I say "probably" because of BRAC.....don't get me started).

Nice photo work, by the way, to get back "on topic." You've got a nice collection of work. Maybe they'll let you stay at DM long enough to get unpacked this time....

Take care.
Bret

Ray, the idea was good but I just don't think the shot works at all.
I would prefer to see the loco illuminated. I hope you
submit your other photo.
