Default Please explain

I was wondering why certain threads are deleated? I started a thread today that was deleated and was wondering why it was?

Never heard of that. RP's forums are great because they are all archived!

What was your thread about, and which forum was it in? The only time I've heard of a thread getting erased is when the forums database corrupts or has to be reverted for some reason, so any threads after the revert time incidentally disappear.

Threads are generally locked, rather than deleted, if it's a duplicate, dubious in nature, degenerate to flame wars, or other possible reasons.

The only time I know of threads going walkabout, is if it's due to the aforementioned db corruption.

The thread was about what type of pictures rrpicturearchives would like to be able to get an account activated.

I posted in a thread the other day about digital cameras, and when I checked back later it was gone. I assumed it was deleted for some reason, but it seems to have happened again. You might want to PM one of the administrators; see if they deleted it or if there's some sort of glitch thatís eating posts.

Consdering the quality of a lot of the stuff on there, I wouldn't think the standards would be generally high...

Thank you. I think the biggest thing going against me is that most of my shots are from areas that they already have a lot of pictures from, plus I'm still learning how to take even decent shots by others standards.

Yeah, pretty much they just want you send them a train picture, so that they know you understand what the site is about (i.e. you don't go loading wedgies of 737s onto the website )

I prefer 727s.

I posted in a thread created by "ClockwiseCorn" the other day. I later checked back to find the two threads made by that user gone and the user in question banned

I've been in the que there for about 2 months now. Maybe they'd have room for more submissions if they didn't have guys sending it 8 shots at the same bad angle. I don't care if I ever get in there now.

Isn't that a lot like mailing Trains and asking them what type of pictures Railfan and Railroad likes to accept?

Yeah, it took me over two months and two different email addresses before they finally "accepted" me. And I just wanted a place to put my cloudy day pictures.

Yeah I realize you guys are in a totally different league here than over there. I know my stuff isn't even close to being accepted here but I do have a few decent shots I wouldn't mind sharing over there. It just torques my nuts when I see multiple shots of stuff in bad lighting shot from so far away you can't read the numbers on the locos.

Why do you want to put your 'not so good' photos on the internet in the first place?

I for one want to because I have some family and friends who would like to see the photos I take, even if there not up to rrpics standards, and its easier to have them somewhere where they all can see it at once instead of e-mailing the pictures to muliple people and then having your computer tell you there's an error and having to start all over again.

Matt,
You can create an account on flickr.com or photobucket.com or any number of free general photography sites and then direct your friends or family to that. Plus they have a nice little slideshow feature built in.

I think photographers that mingle their decent photos (even if not rp.net criteria) with some of the unfiltered stuff on that other rrpicture site does themselves a disservice.

Better to create an account at one of the sites I mentioned or even better start learning how to create your own web site.
