Default Bad cropping?

Just had these two rejected for bad cropping. Any suggestions?

first: too much of the wooden platform in the foreground for my tastes - and cut some off the left, let the train be left side of center, departing for its trip to the upper right

second: bushes and limbs on the right edge are distracting and unnecessary

The first shot has the train centered. I'm not really sure what to take out, but it needs the rule of thirds applied here.

The second shot is nice, but I would say it has too much dead space to the right. Crop close to where the tracks disappear and try that. Take a little off the top to keep the proportions.

Here's an edited version of one of them. Better?

The second shot looks good

TBH, I would not bother with the first one, it is pretty similar to the other and there is too much "clutter" for my taste. The idea of including the switch is intersting, maybe have another try when it is fully installed?
