I'd bet money that it will get rejected for not having enough light on the visible sides of the engine (among other things).

No; you're shooting at the backlit side of the locomotive. The locomotive should have lighting like this one:

I don't suggest, however, shooting in a place with shadows like this shot.

Will any of the following make it to rp? If so.. which one is the better one? or did i take 2 of exactly the same? Lighting ok? Angle looks great? I think it does IMHO I know these ones need editing (it needs to be cropped) but i just wanna know if i have to edit the following to make it on to rp

Do you have one where the VIA building is not cut off, that kills the shot for me.

Sorry to say, but that just from looking at the thumbnail I could tell that it would be rejected.

Try something like this:

http://railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=307838&nseq=62

Notice how none of the engines are cut off.

I think you are asking the wrong question. You should ask how you could improve them. When you get close, don't worry, we'll tell you. These shots aren't there yet. I personally have yet to get a shot on RP (hopefully that will change very soon) and I have been trying since May.

The poles on the left and the piece of spur on the right are distracting. The train is too far away and it would be more interesting if you didn't cut off the VIA sign at top. Also maybe see that you can get they grey truck moved?

Question

Ok I want to put all my "most likely rejection" photos on here (lol) but how can i resize multiple images quickly without it overwriting the original in Adobe PSE 8?

Use "Save As" instead of "Save" and choose a file name different from the original image. Whatever you do, never overwrite the original file with a resized version.

I guess it's a smaller world than I thought. I've been homeschooling since 2nd grade and I will continue to do so until I graduate from high school in 2011. Although obviously I homeschool for academics first and foremost, the flexible schedule is also a huge plus for photography among other things.

(sorry again for steering the thread off course)

I would never have guessed that so many of us are homeschooled, but...

Back on topic: Do we need some composition 101 for GoTransitF59PH? I know I could use some to.

Jim, its homeschool high-school.

GOTransitF59PH, you got your light right and that is excellent. You need improvement on the composition. Don't cut off the train. Include as much of the train as you can. Let your surroundings cut off the train, like a tree or a hill. Consult the experts for more. I don't fall in that category. Oh, and follow the Rule of Thirds.

no.
People have told you what the site expects and how you should examine shots in the database. The shots are just poor rosters of a cab car. It may be hard to do so at the moment, i dont know your circumstances but going out and getting new shots would be more productive at this point than trying to squeeze in a older shot as so far nothing you have shown is of the right quality.

Why did you just attach 10 identical photos of a cut off cab car?

No it was 15 jim.

The answer dude is No, No, a thousand times, NO. None of your shots so far will make it on. All of your cabcar shots are boring and the most recent one has distracting shadows and is not properly exposed.
