So there can't be any clouds in the sky now? The sun is clearly shining as the train is lit and casting a dark shadow as are the handrails. The contrast does need fixing though.

I have to assume that's the wrong rejection. Nothing cloudy about it...at worst some lightly filtered sun, but enough that it's still a pretty "sunny" shot in my opinion.

Contrast, yes. I might also bring the Saturation and/or Vibrance up a bit. Maybe even some clarity. It looks a bit too pastel and needs a little pop.

Otherwise, I don't see any reason why this doesn't measure up to material that is accepted all the time.

I would surmise when the contrast and color is fixed it will be accepted. While the reason was incorrect, a rejection was justified until some tweaking is done.

Looks like a keeper to me, with a little tweaking. Here is my take, hope you don't mind.

The units are dirty, but it would be good if they looked more blue rather than black.

It looks like filtered sun to me, not direct sunlight. Between the dirty YN3 and the lack of anything else in the shot, I'd be surprised this one makes it in the database.

I had a shot with a similar sky rejected once for the same reason. There were a lot of clouds, but it was a sunny blue sky day. I didn't dare adjust and resubmit because I thought that was a door slam rejection.

I agree, it just needs a little more "pop", like some more contrast.

Nice job on that edit, Rich! I think if that were submitted, it would get accepted with no problem.

I'm with Loyd - color is off. Lowering the temperature with a few level adjustments gets rid of the orange in the gray hoppers and gets the "mud" out of the blue locos.

Good edit, Doug. Now they actually look like blue locos.

Following up on Joe's comment, I suppose I am a bad guy, but I heard that the Sand Hills can actually be scenic.

Colors in the rejected shot definitely look more realistic. The accepted shot looks closer to a water color painting now. Surprised they chose that over the original.
