Default Shooting Tips

I've had a hand full of photos rejected for various reasons. So I'm asking those of you who have succeeded in getting photos accepted, published, etc., what tips should those of us looking to get our photos accepted keep in mind when we are out taking our shots? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

How many have you had accepted? If zero, then try the first post in this thread:

If a decent number, then it will be better if you come back and show us some rejections. You haven't given us much to go by.
