Railpictures Plug
Earlier last week i was interviewed by a journalist from the Charleston Gazette in regard to my Amtrak cover photo. They asked the normal questions of how i got interested in the hobby, motivation, and so forth.
I vaguely informed them of Railpictures.net and was pleasantly surprised to see them include the URL to RP in the article which was in today's paper. Unfortunately, there is not an online version, but maybe it'll get some extra attention for the site.

If I ever do another story on railfannning, I'm going to mention Railpictures and see what perks I get. I'm actually hoping to buy a Screener's Choice.

Actually, if anything ever comes of this, RP will just get more crap about allegiance to their friends.

I am so glad you appreciate the humour in that show!

It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

It wasn't that great, I look like I was totally shit faced, but aside from that, good write up by Ben Calwell.

I may be missing the U.S. cultural reference, but in the UK, Parade was (and may still be) a............................. "gentlemens entertainment magazine"
It wasn't "read" much either

Here, it's a flimsy insert in the Sunday paper, geared toward old ladies as far as I can tell. Stories about lost cats, happy Hollywood families, etc. Crossword puzzles for the mentally impaired.

If I ever get interviewed(yeah that's going to happen), I'll mention RP. But I don't think my local paper cares, about anything really, outside of bad news.
Either way, congrats Chase!

Then it's very simple, Wayne. You get a picture of a major derailment that is sure to be covered in your local paper, get it on RP, and send it to the paper for them to use in their coverage. Then, when they interview you, you can get in your RP plug and they get their bad news.

That's not a bad idea, I just hope I'm not around while the derailment is happening!
Then again, the photo would only get like 2 favorites, and like 4 views.
They always do cover the bad news, like when someone pulls out in front of a train and gets PWNED, or when some drunk lays in between the tracks, or when coal falls out of a car on a bridge and smashes someones windshield.
These statements are filled with 100% truth

It's kind of hard to have a newspaper with headlines like --
"Family Adopts Puppy"
"Rainbow Visible for Ten Miles"
"No Accidents in Downtown in Two Weeks"
"Nothing Happened Today.

You forgot "Mets Win!"
But somehow businesses can sell signs that say things like "On This Site in 1893 Nothing Happened". What a world . . .
And BTW, Wayne, a derailment photo may not get you many favorites, but it almost guarantees a Tof24!
