Default NS Maersk unit

What is the history on the NS Maersk unit. Was it specially painted for Maersk or was it a patch unit.

Not sure what you mean by 'patch unit' but NS 3329 was painted in a special Maersk paint scheme in 2002 and repainted into the standard horsehead scheme in 2008. It was paired with BNSF 6976, a retired SDP40F, for the opening of Maersk's Pier 400 Terminal in Los Angeles during the summer of 2002.
