Default Are the shadows distracting?

Worth an appeal or do the shadows really kill it?

For me, yes. My eye goes straight to the end of the bulkhead car, where the shadow appears to be an arrow pointing up.

Yes the shadows seem to lead you away from the subject, still some nice light.

I see the leaners(about to fall over visually) now seem to be the in thing so keep that one, maybe some days they will figure out shadows even distracting are the spice of life and sometimes even interesting in themselves.

If you want to see a good one, the July photo in this year's Union Pacific Calendar is amazing. It would even get rejected on ToadOdors!

That shadow looks to be of a lifeguard station, or at least some elevated building.
