Horizon un-level

I will correct the exposure. Even then I don't know if it will be acceptable, however the the unlevel ding has me stumped. What am I missing and which way should I go? Suggestions on rotation??

Too bad you couldn't have taken a few steps back and slightly to the right. Definitely needs some exposure work too. And I think they'd like you to go CCW just a tad.

I guess the level issue is fixed but now underexposed.

I have reached my upload limit for the day. I think the histogram looks OK so I will selectively do the two switchers and try again. If that doesn't work, maybe I will put a hand in the edge of the photo.. After all the SW 7 is a Heritage Unit!

Grainy, overprocessed, cloudy day. Those are three things working against you. That blob of undefined whiteness in the sky is very unappealing. This would take a miracle to get accepted even with RP's odd screening patterns.

Yeah, if you exposed it to get the locos looking right then that sky would look even worse. There's a lot noise there too. Did you have the ISO cranked in the middle of the day?

I think the exposure of the first one is not that far off. The second shot might work on Flickr, but it looks like you want crazy on the sliders. Sometimes we overthink processing and I think this is one of those cases.

Even shots in crappy conditions can be processed correctly using layers.

Then again I'm not one for processing the hell out of pictures. I'm just saying, this specific shot probably can't be saved for RP. The rear end of the steam engine is cut off, the BNSF loco is cut off. Maybe given the rarity (is it rare, I have no idea?) of this event, a better angle would've gotten it on?

Sure, but it's still easily fixable with some selective editing, even if it's just for flickr or wherever else.
