Freight cars are the root of my passion for trains. As a preschooler, my dad would take me to a parking lot on a bluff overlooking the hump at L&N's Radnor Yard in Nashville. I was fascinated watching the seemingly endless variety of '50's-era boxcars, and I could identify most of their logos by the time I was three. I later found a connection to roads that I may never see (such as the CIRR) through their freight cars. Throughout my later years photographing trains, I always endeavored to record freight cars.
