Default Help needed with St Louis Area railfanning

I will be travelling to the St Louis area this coming weekend. I know this is very late notice, but can anyone help me with a couple of places I might be able to catch some good action Saturday? I have a couple of places along the trip over and back to try and catch along the NS line from Louisville to St Louis.

I would be great if someone could help with locations of a few safe places and any local do(s) and don't(s) as far as law enforcement is concerned. I know that in this part of the country we typically don't have too many problems, but around bigger cities I have heard horror stories. I just don't want to become one of those stories. Directions would be great, road/dispatch channels by road would be most helpful also. I do have Delorme Maps of Illinois and Missouri, which will greatly help once I know the locations to try and get pictures.

I have about 8-10 hours free Saturday and just don't want to totally waste it with as many miles of RR in that area. If I could get a few good spots, that would really make my day.

Thanks in advance.

There's alot of people on here from St. Louis so you may be in luck.

Stay away from East St. Louis.

Try this website for info:

Hey Ween,

Thanks for that site, that helps a lot. They have several places listed with lots of good information. There is no way I could get to all of them and spend any time at all at them. I will probably just try for 2 or 3 that are closer together and just see what I can get.

Hopefully I can get some good pics from these, including the symbols and the correct road and territory names.

Thanks again

Randy,

If you get this message in time, PM me or email me.

I wouldn't worry about law enforcement. We just got stopped last night taking night pics in Dupo, the police officer wanted to know what was going on, then never even bothered to ask our names. He just wondered why we were out at 11:45 at night, when it is dark at 8. Nevermind the people 200 feet away filing out of a bar, some of whom were probably plowed into oblivion as they stuck their keys into the ignition.

I hope you have good weather here. It stinks today.
