I love trains but it must be tough at your house at 2 AM!

I have many photos taken from my office (just 50' from the BNSF Peavine) but none are good enuff for RP since location is bad. These shots were taken in downtown Phoenix about 12 miles away............

Just next to my house. Distance can be count in meter...
Around 25m in horizontal, and 25m in vertical......

But not a good shot, I believe...

You mean you live THAT close and you've allowed all that brush to grow up and block a clear view of the train?

Hahahahaha! I hack down everything (trackside) within a 10 miles radius of my front door. I assumed everyone else 'gardened' their home lines.

I could make up some bull about being afraid of the cops catching me, but I'm not. They only care about when you're ON the bridges. Mostly I just don't feel like spending night after night culling bushes, I'd end up doing it my entire life to the entire subdivision!

Selective pruning on a shot per shot basis, no need to do the entire Sub. No excuse when it's that close to home, and there isn't too much work there

Probably one of my least favorite photos that I have photographed that was accepted on RP. About 2 miles from my house.

Exactly. If I had a sweet scene like that within walking distance of my house in the middle of nowhere, you can bet that view would be clean.

Boy, this closest to me too, but I see how much flack Matthew is getting I'm almost afraid to say it. Maybe if I look at the positive, save half the time by both hacking away.

Across the bay in Superior, but this unit used to go by my house almost every day from 1991 to 2000.

I personally have had a problem with those trying to tell us to turn railroad photography into an "art form." It's fine for them to do so, I welcome it in fact, but what I do have a problem with is that the practitioners of the more "arty" shots, I have found, tend to look down their nose's at others who are shooting more "mundane" shots.
Railroad photography is what you make of it, but one way is not "better" than another, IMHO. Unless you have a pole right thought the nose of the engine! -SG

I think you're tied with Tom at the top of the page. Why don't you get trundle wheels and measure it down to tenths of feet?

Default Two look to be about the same

There are several in Clovis but I think they are at the west end of the yard making them further from my house than these two.
