Default A couple rejections

Hey all. Im in need of some feedback. Usually when I get a rejection I just fix it real quick and it gets on but these have been bugging me.

First rejection;
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...02&key=1671528

This one made me laugh because there is no photo of this train at this location on RP. I appealed and got the same 'similar photo' rejection.

Second;
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...82&key=3835296

I thought the composition is good. Nothing special but still a nice picture in my opinion. I guess Ill just let that one go.

Third;
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...76&key=8031968

I appealed this one saying that there is no nose light but everything else is lit up perfectly. Definitely not backlit. Then it came back with backlit again.

And the last one;
http://www.railpictures.net/viewreje...49&key=8762300

I appealed this asking them to take another look. I figured they may have hit the wrong thing and come back and say 'bad cropping' but nope. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for any help.

1. Appeal it, it's fine

2. I would take some off the right and bottom, and if you have more on the left, include it. It's also overexposed, fix that too.

3. They gave you that for the lack of nose light. This one is also overexposed, and image quality is lacking.

4. Very noisy. Your photo info is also inaccurate. It's not horrible quality, there's worse.

All four are also incredibly overexposed. Can't believe not one of them got that rejection.

I'm assuming it's because you uploaded 4 pictures of this train today...

That's what the appeal option is for isnt it? I feel like I was making valid points and not abusing it. I WASNT TYPING IN ALL CAPS AND DEMANDING WHY OH WHY WONT RAILPICTURES ACCEPT MY FOWTOE!

Derek, I suppose you're right. Ive never encountered that before with RP.

If you appeal 3 out of 4 rejections, you're abusing.

Seriously, dude, I use the appeal feature like once a year.

P.S., reject on number 3 is a nitpick.

Keep in mind the rejection is not "Similiar to Previous Photo in Same Exact Location." It's "Similiar to Previous Photo."

All four of your shots of the OCS are all front end wedgies from the same sideof the train. I would have picked the one good shot of the four, with the other NS train in it, and let the others slide.

An extremely valid reject.

Nose of the lead unit is pretty much centered in the frame both horizontally and vertically. I guess you were trying to get the house in the frame, but it's basically a white blob anyhow. Shot needs to follow the Rule of Thirds.

In RP's parlance, this is indeed backlit. I don't agree with the rejection based on that, but, of course, their site, their rules. Do you have an earlier frame before the train turned away from the sun?

That shouldn't matter. As long as it's not at the same location, who cares how many OCS shots he uploads in a day.

I disagree with your assessment. For all intents and purposes, that rejection is to prevent 10 people in a photo line from going home and submitting the exact same shot. Not for chasing a train and submitting 10 different shots of it. Even though they may be the dreaded "WEDGE", which so many of you high brow railroad photographers now eschew. They are different enough to have been accepted. Especially when you look at how many BNSF GE widecab wedges were probably accepted that same day.

I would agree with that. That is blatant overuse of the appeal. Might by why they denied the one legit appeal you had too?

Haha. Somoene hasn't taken a look at my photos at RP lately. I shoot wedgies and I ain't high brow! I mentioned the wedgie to Kyle because all five of his uploads of the OCS were shot mainly head on from the same side of the train. The one that was rejected had no other element in the photo other than the train. I think it should have been rejected Similiar to Previous.

I'll be high brow. There's no reason to upload a bunch of the same thing at the same time. Pick the best one or two and call it done. There isn't an award for having the most photos on here, and e-fame is fleeting.

Well, they did accept this one:

...although this one had been accepted a couple of days before:

Maybe they thought the shot in question looked familiar, but messed up?

In general I doubt the screeners can remember the shots that well. Plus, there are multiple screeners.

I had a recent rejection along these lines, not quite so similar, with 4 days between shots. I conclude that my shot was memorable enough to last in someone's memory for four days!

First off, I understand what you're saying and I agree with you for the most part. On the other hand I like sharing my pictures from different locations from the chase. Ill take your suggestion and submit my pictures of the same train in longer intervals.

Annnd for the dreaded wedgies so be it. I like how my pictures came out. They're not completely bland except for the Flovilla shot perhaps.

On another note thanks again for the feedback guys. I hate criticism sometimes but without it I'd never get better.
