be 40 here in about 4 months.Still enjoy everything to do with railroading. Have been taking rail pics for about 30 yrs and still love nothing more than spending a day with the camera and scanner and the railroads. Only difference is I now have the ways and means to go to more different spots if I choose too. Have taken pics as far north as Southern Mn., West to N. Az. south to Cen. Fla. Now just need to take an Eastern trip(at least farther than IN.)HEHE

Two score and 1 year old. I have less than 19 years until I can retire. It's great to see all the young people on the board.

As of Saturday, Sept 10 I will be 41 years old. Been into trains since 1970 when I got my first HO scale train set. Railfan, model railroader, former railroad employee....I guess I have a passing interest in trains!

How old? Or how old do I feel?
I'll be 29 next month (October), and you thought Octoberfest was a celebration of German heritage. Okay, so it probably is, but how convenient it is the same month as my b-day.

I am 17, and have been doing this seriously since right after I was 15, wow that was a long time ago! Now it's just 1 more year of school before i hit the rails and join the ranks of railroaders.

Turned 28 last June. Didnt get really into rail photography til I was about 20 or so, but I got my first camera when I was 16, but didnt discover slide film until I was 21 or 22, I cant remember exactly. Looking back it is sad that I missed the glory days of the SP and ATSF-I guess high school parties and girls were more important. 10 year reunion this October!

Wow, a year ago I thought I was the youngest guy here. I'm 18 now...
I must say I'm jealous of the kids that are younger than me that have even more photos up here than me (or photos at all!) It seems like the more I want to improve the quality and variety of my shots, the less time and money I have to do so...
I started riding at 6, started riding by myself at 13, and began photographing at 15. I guess I've come a long way from crap like this to stuff like this or this, but I've still got a ways to go. A big problem that I've dealt with is the issue of quality vs. quantity. Being in the city within walking distance of 2 subway lines, it's tempting to press the button as many times as possible. I also tend to plan blitz-type trips where I try to get as many photos as possible of a particular line, equipment, diversion, weather condition, or special event as possible. On some days I'd come back with 100, 200, or even 300+ photos in the course of a single day! Although now that I'm in Philly that's a little harder since there's only 2 subway lines, and everything else requires an additional fare (which I can't afford).
Altogether I've taken about twenty thousand photos. But most of them will never see the light of day (quality), some were lost due to simultaneous hard drive/zip drive failure, and others are of non-rail subjects (buses, ferries, hangouts with friends, and buildings). I'm on my 4th camera.

I am 30 but have been into trains since I was 4. When I was a kid my parents lived about 1/4 mile from the tracks. I used to go down to the crossing everytime I heard the train coming. I have quite a collection of photos from my childhood. I should really get off of my duff and post some of them.
