Default Gallery: August

Now 4 days into August and a billion it seems since we had the last gallery, post your August shots. The more they feel like August the better.

I only have three actually, but I think they're pretty August-feeling to me, but maybe that's cause I was there and it was hot and muggy all three times.

Hmm, what does it mean to feel like August? I have no idea!

So, in looking at my RP shots taken in August, I decided to go with travel shots, since people often travel in summer. As August is the traditional peak travel season in Europe, I will do a set of Europe shots. Well, I'll add a Korea, sometimes Europeans travel there. And two of these are among my oldest shots, they need some love.

Does he want the current August or any August?

Jim, c'mon, no one is bound by the intentions of an OP. Surely we have all learned that here, over the years!

He says "feel like August." I don't know what this August feels like; we aren't even 4 full days in yet!

From looking at the dates of the images he posted, any August is fine. This is what August feels like in my part of the railroad world.

Exclamation If it is any August, then that means monsoon season in So. Cal.

August is a great month for backlit shots at the Fullerton Train Station with really nice sunsets and interesting clouds.

We get the remnants of hurricanes from Mexico that blow up and electrify the late evening skies.

I don't think this is corn, but it was hot and dry, and the storm was just welcome.

I tore my patellar tendon from my knee on June 16th and had a two hour surgery on July 3rd to wire everything back together - and have been house-bound ever since.

If I could only talk one of my kids into driving me around in the back seat of a car, cast sticking out the open window - spending an hour or so finding a vantage point, only to wait another hour for a train............

For some reason they donít see the 'bonding experience' opportunity.

I have had some pretty nice Augusts. August is a good month for me as (summer) baseball has just ended and I still have a little time off before going back to school. Last year's August was really helped by a ride on the Feather River Express from Portola to Davis. I like this month!

The past few years in Nor Cal, August has meant Feather River Express:

Also some timely detours gave me good opportunity to shoot the Feather River Canyon the day before the ride.

Last year, my summer trip to Colorado ended up dragging into August. August in Colorado means one thing and one thing only: Thunderstorms!

Echo Canyon isn't bad either...

So August has been good to me. Less than two weeks before school starts and so far this August hasn't been too good. Hopefully I can salvage the month in the few remaining days of freedom.

Did you park at the end of 20th to get that shot? When I was there in 2009 I was snooping around that area looking for a place to shoot.
