Scaling down images

A lot of my pictures look fine on a full computer screen but the composition is not so great when its put on the rpics screen which is larger than the computer screen. What's a good way to scale it down so it is smaller than the standard rpics screen? Sorry if this is confusing. I only have microsoft photo editor and paint....Would reducing the size in paint by using the streching tool do the trick or does that just upload the image to a small resolution, further reducing composition? Thanks!!!

Make them 1024x768 (standard screen dimensions) if they don't fit.

Try this proggie, it's free, and I hear it's not bad. I can't give my opinion as I have Photoshop, but this should get the job done, too!

Looks like you already went with that advice, but I still need to second this recommendation. While I do adore Photoshop, Irfanview is great for simple things like resizing. It also starts up a lot faster.

Thanks guys....I dug some of my pics rejected for bad cropping and had them accepted thanks to this. That IRfan viewer is great.
