Is it level
For everyone who has had to rotate their submitted image at least 0.3° to get it accepted I present this nice image from Mr. Utah, James Belmont
 | PhotoID: 509256 Photograph © James Belmont |
It appears to be a wide angle that is not leveled on objects in the center of the frame as is widely accepted. It appears to be leveled with the edge of the leading loco. What do you all think?

The Gilluly Loops are on a heck of a grade, but the trees look level to me.

Nope, not even in the realm of level.
Here's a very quick 'ballpark' adjustment that at least gets it in the parking lot of the realm of level.

I'm guessing it's leaning left, unless that lone pole in the gulch is actually not plumb. That's quite a rise of the distant mountains left to right.
Several unlevel shots have made it in the last couple days. Oh well.

Chris : Isn't the foreground track at a higher elevation? In the original the background track looks like what you just stated about Loyd's correction.
Anyhow, the only yes vote to my poll so far was made by one who decides what gets accepted or rejected.

The train is going upgrade per his text. So the rear of the train shouldn't be going downhill as seen in his version.

Yes, the foreground track with the SP locos is actually climbing uphill, if the train is headed that way. By leveling the foreground, the rear of the train, seems to be on an extreme grade.

Lol. I think you need to recertify him. Has he taken a blow to the head recently?

I leveled the entire image as a whole using rotation, and distortion correction. I'm not sure how you can look at his, and then mine, and determine my correction exaggerated the grade... lol

Why is it taking so long for manufacturers to add level indicators to the EXIF?
My phone has it as an app (and an auto adjustable clock).
It would seem so simple to add to the EXIF degrees of tilt that could later be automatically compensated for (or even manually plugged in and corrected
without guess work).
Oh well - Jim, Loyd - your day job is secure for now!
