Your favourite Railroad(s)

Just having a break from editing photos of one of mine so just wondering which railroads everybody else likes. Please feel free to provide illustrations

Mine are

1. RhB, Rhätische Bahn

Metre gauge system in the south-east corner of Switzerland, scenery to die for and very enthusiast friendly (you can even view and purchase copies of the daily locomotive diagrams from certain locations). Also runs with typical Swiss precision, to quote Mary Poppins "Practically perfect in every way"

2. FEVE

Extensive metre gauge system across the North of Spain with some stunning scenery and interesting freight workings. I really must get motivated to go over there and hire some transport to try some linesiding, unlike the RhB passenger services are rather sparse.

3. BLS

Another Swiss railway, standard gauge this time. Have been on several special tours run by somebody who has good connections with this company. Nothing is too much trouble (within reason!) and all tours so far have run like the proverbial Swiss clock.

as a child, people that live two doors from my grandparents had a

short line that ran through the middle of town.

Janet, I'm not the type to like particular railroads. But one of my favorite places to fan is Hancock WV, a minor yard on CSX that no longer has its tower nor its CPLs, has poor light angles, but is still an accessible, out of the way yard that is fun to hang out at and has a great RR feel. Especially for this yard-deprived fan; DC is not a great area for yards as it isn't a great area for industry.

I also became a big fan of the Strasburg RR during a photo charter last year. Haven't been back up there

but I love the engines there. So I am always clicking on the latest from that location.

I would have to say my favorite railroads are New York Central and Conrail. And while I don't have pctures of either railroad, my Grandpa does.

I don't have a specific favorite, but I prefer shortlines/regionals. They tend to be more railfan friendly, and are more apt to "bend the rules" a little and grant you access to places that a Class 1 usually will not. Examples:

Denver & Rio Grande Western (D&RGW)
Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul & Pacific (The Milwaukee Road)
Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range (DM&IR)

Class 1;
BNSF - Only because the C4 series and those GEVO's look amazing in the Speed Lettering paint scheme.

I traveled a lot and i thinks there are some thinks i love

In the US: Union Pacific *takes cover* and BNSF
In Europe: SBB (Swiss Federal Railroads) and DB (German Federal Railroad)
D&RGW, N&W, Frisco, and in the UK, GWR and LMS. Todays railways, Norfolk Southern.
