Default Heritage speak

All of this hubub about the UP heritage schemes has made this particular eastern railfan a little jealous and wishing for the same.

How cool would it be if CSX and NS brought back paint schemes from its predecessors? Granted, some of them are a little drab, and a lot aren't too exciting, but many of them would work nicely on some older second generation units that are getting up there in years and need some new paint.

How about these:

Western Maryland circus scheme on one of the few remaining SD40's, before they're gone forever?
Erie Lackawanna Grey-Maroon-Yellow scheme on an ex-GP35 road slug?
Clinchfield Railroad black and gold?
The short lived N&W blue and yellow, or even the late NW scheme on a high nose SD40-2?
The classy Southern scheme of course---
Chessie System on a GP40-2, now that most of those are all repainted?
Lehigh Valley red or the older burgundy with its "Black Diamond" on a GP38-2?
Reading cream and green?
B&O "sunburst" scheme on an ex-GP30 road slug?
How about Lehigh and Hudson River RR sky blue?
(Penn Central would be interesting...but I'm not sure )
Both late schemes of the NYC and the PRR with their respective "Cigar Bands" and Keystones? (making sure of course the PRR is done in Dark Green Locomotive enamel )
"True" L&N grey on one of the few remaining C30-7s?

The list goes on, but I think most agree that this would be REALLY cool.

What are your thoughts, and what woud YOU want to see?

Well you already screwed up and didn't mention the New Haven - CSX operates over NHRR trackage.

No matter - CDOT already paints their commuter equipment in a New Haven scheme.

Let's not forget a few of those roads that made up Southern and N&W now. Just think how cool it would be to see a locomotive today in Virginian, Nickel Plate, or Wabash paint. Or how about an NS switcher in K&IT colors?

Just a thought.

Some seem to forget that the NS beat UP to the "heritage unit" stuff by a few years, even if it was with just one unit.

I like your Ideas but for NW how about a Red or Marron and Gold similar to what was on the 611.
