Default Silhouette Shot Advice

The below photo was rejected for poor cropping/poor lighting:

http://www.railpictures.net/viewreject.php?id=134264

Any advice on how this shot can be improved? What might I keep in mind when I try to get this shot next time? This is the first time I've tried a shot like this.

thanks,
-John

Thumbs up

Wow, that's a nice shot. If anything I'd crop a decent amount off the top and a little off the left and right. If I were you I'd try that shot again with a nicer sunset. It'd enhance it significantly. Just my $.02.

That's a great shot. Like Greg said, I think you could take some sky off the top of the photo, but other than that it's a fine photo.

Appeal, Appeal, Appeal!! I'm afraid if you were to crop any off the top or bottom, you would have to crop some of the sides too (to keep it proportional) which would kinda make you loose the "symmetry" of the photo.

I like the photo. But I would crop some from the top
and convert it to B&W, then experiment with brightness
and contrast to obtain the best image.
