Comp to loose?

Not sure what to think about this one. Ive seen so many shots on here where you have to play " Wheres Waldo " to find the train. Myself and many others think this was a bad rejection. Ive tried cropping it but it just takes away from the scene. Thoughts

Too loose, I don't see how all that space on the right adds anything to the photo.

I like it, but personally, I would lose about half the sky, and crop a little tighter on the train.

It is a bad rejection, if that is their reason. Cropping it so the train is teetering on the edge of the frame would make the composition worse, not better. I do think you have the shot framed with too much sky and the train a bit low, but that's not a major issue.

Personally, in this spot I think I would have used a shorter focal length, pointed the camera lower and more to the right, but would certainly NOT put the lead engine on or near the frame edge, because all that does is draw the viewer's eye right to the edge - and OUT of the frame, exactly what you don't want to do.

Whatever you do, don't start taking pictures with a mind to pleasing the people who run this site, since your pictures will probably be worse for it, not better.
