Guido, to see the NYSW, you will need to go over to Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. There is a local switch crew working during the day, but they may be using a leased CSX or NS locomotive.
The SU-99 train from there to Binghamton, New York leaves Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings. This is the train which uses the NYSW SD60s. The departure should be early enough to still be in daylight for the next few weeks, but it does start to get dark pretty early in New York City as the winter months set in.
Good luck, and enjoy your visit to New York City!
