Railfan glass: Canon 24-105 F/4L IS

Thought I'd start a thread on my most-used lens. Sharp wide open, and really sharp stopped down. The IS is great and useful, and the range is perfect. Used it with a 10-22 on my 40D/Rebel XT combo with great results, and once I got my 5D it just became the best thing ever for railfanning. (Sure, when I'm out shooting portraits I'll grab a couple primes, but that's different.)
Great walkaround with great colours and great image quality.

I have a tendency to use it at the short end, but it's fantastic at the long end, too.

The 24-105L is also my main lens. Its a great lens and I enjoy using it. I dont have it on a FF yet, but I have tried it on one and I agree, it is amazing.

The 24-105 is my only lens right now. Most of my photos in the database since January of this year were taken with this lens. So far, no complaints.

I managed to get a virtually brand new second hand one back in the summer. Apparently the original owner bought it with a 40D but quickly decided that he wanted something wider, so PXed it - it was only in the shop for a couple of hours before I walked in and "snapped" it up. Had been looking for a reasonably priced one for several weeks due to being dissatisfied with our 28 -135, the L series is a great improvement.

Agreed. I've been using my CP filter a LOT on sunny days which has forced me to go with f4 quite a bit, and I've been very happy with the results:
